Link to forums pro not working

Poster Posté le: Fri Aug 20, 2010 3:27 am

ive installed pronews v3.3 and everything went well...
however the comments are not linking to ForumsPro
comments link only to the older forums

i am getting these error codes:

includes/fpbbcode.php
Notice line 19: Undefined variable: modheader
includes/functions/linking.php
CMS Warning line 141: www.myndworx.com/updat...mdnm=FPro2
HTTP/1.1 404 Component not found
modules/ForumsPro/admin/index.inc
Notice line 61: Undefined index: msg
Warning line 61: Invalid argument supplied for foreach()

could these be pointing to the problem?

ive enabled the link to forumspro only setting, and set the link in the categories admin, but the "discuss" attribute still indicates "cpg-bb Forum"

website url: www.bulletin.comeze.com

any ideas how to fix this?

Hmm, I'm guessing some here, but have you selected ForumsPro at Section level?

ForumPro selection at Catgeory was added as a community project - I'm guessing that it needs to be disabled if ForumsPro is not first selected at the Section level.

If that's the cause, please let me know and I'll see about adding some checks to prevent. TIA.

I'll PM you with some comments about the site.

thanx for your reply...
yes, forumspro is selected at section level.
the "comments" link even reads:
bulletin.comeze.com/in...&discuss=2
note the url indicates forumpro.
but it still is not working.
going to try froumsPlus, and thanx for the tip on reDesign3.

Hmm.

OK, to recap:

You have Config Enable link to ForumsPro set to ForumsPro ONLY?
Section set to ForumsPro ONLY (for both sections) and to a Forum which is in ForumsPro?
Category set to Section Default, or again set to ForumsPro and a forum in ForumsPro?

If you have a forum selection in Category of ForumsPro will you try with it set to Section Default please?

BTW, I have no clue about the error message in the OP - something internal to ForumsPro...

I'm not clear what is happening. It's working on many sites (eg www.greenday2k.net/), but something must be different on yours.

In Admin > Modules, ForumsPro is marked as Active (column 1)? Odd things happen in DF if used when not marked Active (although they will work mostly for Admins that way).

reDesign3 RC you can download from 000.pre.ee. reDesign3 is on dragonflycms.org CVS, but you'll need TortoiseCVS or similar (for Windows) to download the latest version from there.

looks like i got it working...for a time at least
i think the problem was i neglected to upload the necessary files to the
hardwired themes folder. my guess is this is what caused the error.
however, some sort of problem arose, i suppose at the host server, and i had to do a total instal from scratch.
will update you if i run into this problem again.
thanx so much for your input.

host server went dead for about a day, did a full re-install on a new domain name but ran into the same problem.
...if i could ask a question, the "link to forumspro" does not work,
had to use "multiple forums..." however ,in the categories section,
the advanced options do not appear, says "No forums exist Section Default to use Forum set in parent Section" is this normal or are the advaced options supposed to be available in the categories section?
this setup allows for "fpro"for forums linking but does not allow for
specific forums (or subforums) to be assigned...only the default forum set in the parent section.
should the advanced options be available in "categories " ?

this may be a bug or could be a problem with my install.

If the link to FPro works when Config set to Multiple Forums (that is what you said?), then I clearly have a bug. Will need to look at that.

When set to Multiple Forums, the code assumes that Forums is present (because that's the reason for multiple forums), so my guess is that Categories code is failing because it can't find any Forums (only FPro forums). But I didn't do the code for Forums selection in Categories so that's just a guess until I have time to look at the code.

A quick workaround may be to activate Forums, create a forum within in, but leave it empty for now, and see if that allows everything related to FPro to work temporarily, until I find the cause of the original bug.

Sorry for the problem.

Hi, as a forumspro user i can help you.

The error, shown on the OP. is related to the "status" update of ForumsPro, wich you can turn off on the forums pro settings.

Exactly, in wich page (url) the links are not working? Admin Zone? News Zone? can please provide a URL thats shows the error.

Please, if you can, take and screenshot to show us wich link is failing or what procedure is failing with forums pro.

@greenday2k, Thanks for your help on this. As you know I don't use FPro beyond basic interface tests with Pro_News.

@rudy386, Regarding missing Forum Type Selection in Advanced Option under Categories: Please check that you have selected Yes to Admin > Pro_News > Config > Enable Forum Type Per Category (4th from bottom of Interface Setting). This is required (to select Forums or 1 of many FPro's) when you select Multiple Forum support and you want to use that at Category level. [ I think I'll move that option down 2 spots in list to make it more noticeable. ]

Re: Link to forums pro not working

Update. I've been plugging through this all day. The solution to the original problem (discuss link not working) is, I believe, to simply re-edit and re-save the affect Category entries. It would appear that you had set up Category Forum entries before you switched to ForumsPro. It's possible to do this - if you don't have any articles already present with comments, but you need to 1 of three things: either need to go through Multi-Forums first, then switch over the Categories to the new FPro, then switch to FPro only. Or change to Section Default first, then reselect after the switch. Or as suggested, just go back and re-edit the Catgeory entries. The problem is that the Forum Id at Category level doesn't get switched over to the new forum when going directly from CPG-FOrum ONLY to FPro ONLY (or vice versa) unless it gets visited. There is no way to make this happen automatically, and it is a big rewrite to fix it correctly, including a db structure change which will impact everybody.

So I am not proposing to address this beyond advocating this work around. Hopefully you agree. I have already moved the 'Enable Forum Type Per Category' option down the Config list as mentioned above.

Took hours to reproduce and diagnose, but I did find 2 other errors - which should not affect anyone else besides me at the moment - so it was worth the effort.

mm I Don't get it why it works on mine.

If want to edit a section/category, i have to:

select "Forums-Pro" Click on Change and Then select the Desired Destination Forum. Then Re enter de Category name, Description, image etc, the save. a Little Tricky but it works. By The way you're not editing categories and sections everyday.
