Re: Link to forums pro not working

Reason it works on yours is - I think - because you started out using Pro_News with FPro. Ie. it works fine if you set things up for Forums, or FPro or both. Problems only occur if you set up for, say, Forums, and assign a Catgeory to Forums #1. Now you switch (at Config level) to FPro. If the Category-Forums, link had been empty all would be fine. But as there is a 1 in there already, Pro_News thinks that the link is already in place - unfortunately it is still #1 in Forums and not #1 in FPro!

There is no quick fix. If I go through resetting everything whenever it is changed, then I will punish the user who accidentally selects wrong Forum selection in Config, plus I will lose all the info for ones who did want to simply upgrade to FPro (ie. want same forum numbers before and after). So only fix I can see is to make Forums Type (F, FPro, etc.) a "higher level" operation than Forum number. But that means a rewrite on about 8 routines, bucket loads of testing, probably a db change, and an ugly upgrade/conversion for all. And I would probably have to handle 2 classes of Multiple Forums separately as well - Forums + 1 or more FPros, and Multiple FPros without Forums.

A lot more complication on the UI esp. for users who aren't using FPro. I was very conscious when adding FPro support that I didn't want to make the non-FPro user's experience more complex - and that is even more true now that FPro is not being updated as fast as Forums/Plus.

Re having to re-enter after change: Didn't realise that was happening. I'll look to see how hard to preserve the entered data. Note this is only an issue if you are using > 1 Forum; if using only FPro you don't need 'Enable Forum Type per Category' set to yes, as it will remain on FPro if FPro is all you have. (So this is the best method to transition from fully set up Forums to a single FPro: First switch to Multi and Enable = Yes, convert every Sec/Cat, then switch to FPro ONLY and Enable = No.)

As you say you don't add Categories often, and you only upgrade to FPro once!

As you have Enable = Yes, I presume that you have > 1 FPro in use?

UPDATE: I've modified code for next release to preserve all fields (other than the Forums ones) in both Section and Categories, when you click Change.

(Section already preserved Title & Description.)
