CSS & IE8

Kirim Dikirim: Wed Sep 01, 2010 7:26 pm

i know this is a newbie question
ive edited pro_news.css and all things looked good in IE7
however when i preview in IE8 things look a little different.
take a look at this page on my site:

bulletin.comeze.com/in...e=Pro_News

see how the text is hard to read against a grey background.

how do i go about editing the css so the changes show up in IE8

on a note: i edited pro_news.css using note pad but was told to use a better editor. ...i've since downloaded Notepad ++ , could this be the cause of the problem?

thnx for your help and i appologize for the Newbness

I don't have IE8, nor any way to run it (Ubuntu & Win2K) - Thanks, Microsoft!

But I did warn you about editing in Notepad ...

No way to know if this is the cause, but it is a cause, so you might as well fix that first, then see,

You'll need to obtain a fresh copy of any files edited in Notepad from the initial zip, and start over. Please ensure that Notepad++ is either set to always save in UTF8, or set to save in same format as source file. It should default to one or the other, but better to check than do it a third time.

Good! So are you set now, or are you still tweaking?

You might want to consider centering the header? And perhaps find some icons from a dark theme? (The default DF ones are set on a light background, hence the fringe around them.)

If you want to stay with a Forum as Home module, you may like to know that Pro_News can display an article as a Center Up block, so you could have the very latest news item in place of the "Welcome" block. Or, using Headlines you could perhaps squeeze 2 or 3 in - 1 of which could be your "Welcome" screen.

LB,

How do you display an article as a Centre Up Block? Would like to replace a message to use on my home page..

Just 1? Create Section/Category/Article, and select Section in Block?

But if more than 1 I'd use FCS for added impact.

Thanks - it's an option I've never tried so I'll give it a go. Can you tell it's a new installation? Wink

Consider using a different dedicated template too, then you can use unique background colours, font sizes, etc., to make it stand out.
