A few suggestions
A few suggestions
Dikirim: Fri Mar 16, 2007 5:05 pm
Hi,
unfortunately I only recently had the opportunity to test Pro_Nes thoroughly. So far it is really great. I have 3 small suggestions though that could be useful:
1. Additional sorting order
In "sort by section" mode an option would be great that always displays the section with the latest article on top of the page. Right now you have to define a fixed position for each section. So the one at the very bottom will stay there no matter how good and often the news are being updated in there. Especially with several sections active many new articles might not get any attention and will not be read because of this.
2. "Seperate" pn.content and pn.title classses
I found that it could be helpful if you could set different font size for the main article and the and the listing of the earlier articles below it (just like the template on your site). This would save a lot of space, especially if you increase the font size for titles.
3. Truncation and bbcode
I know it has been mentioned before... but the possibility to use bbcode even for truncated text would really be a great feature. E.G "align" or "b"code is renedered virtually useless without this. Maybe an option to set the truncation could help as a quick solution.
That's it for now ![]()
Maybe someone else finds these things useful as well and could be considerd for any future release. ![]()

Don't worry about the delay, and thanks for the good words. Re you ideas:
1. Makes a lot of sense, and might not be too hard. Will need to think about the db activity. So far Pro_News is pretty conservative with it's SQL calls.
2. I like the idea, but not sure how to actually implement - might need the classes to be set in template not code... hmmm!
3. Actually I was thinking of just removing the bbcodes in truncated text for the next release!!! Unless someone can think of a succinct bit of code to figure out all the current bbcodes in effect, so I can close them all at the end. And I guess that code should skip over counting the characters that make up the bbcodes too ![]()
4. Make truncation length a variable - easy to do, most work would be in the Updater to add the new option ![]()

Another suggestion from me ...
I definitly like the "discuss in forum" feature, but I think it would be better, if one could select the forum to discuss in for each news or at least each category and not for the sections.
also, I think it would be great if one can aktivate/deactivate this feature for each news ...
(and please, don't kill me for my bad english
)

Hi layingback,
I was wondering if some of the ideas mentioned in here (as well as the FPro integration) are still on the table or whether development has come to a halt.
Thx in advance for any info ![]()

- Golem... has come to a halt.
If you mean halt as in terminated, deceased, dead, "nailed to the perch", then no, it's not dead. ![]()
But if you mean that I'm not currently working on it, then you are dead right.
Real life means that I have to do a big remodel on my place. For a number of reasons that got delayed, so I used the time to release the initial Pro_News. But now the hammers, saws and inevitable paperwork are in full swing, so I will probably have to finish that before I can get any solid time to work on Pro_News release 2.
ForumsPro integration is in, but the related Admin side has hit a snag requiring a module rewrite for Sections.
But there are also a number of other features done or in progress, and a possibility of CPGNuCalendar integration too.
And I've found the code to clean out those truncated bbcodes: it was hidden - and unused - in Pro_News Admin module all along! Duh!
Oh, yes, and EHP Designs tabbed bbcodes tag support should be in by release time too - providing lots more edit/formatting options as well as support for many video formats.
Sorry the news wasn't what you were probably hoping for, but that's life - literally! But note that I'm not into "owning" my code, never have been, so if you know others that want to pitch in, I'm more than open, and will happily project manage and coordinate release(s). More than happy to make this a true community project.

Hmmm I assume it's time to give up hope about any of the above?
